Is the national teachers strike fair??

Millions of children have faced being turned away from school in the biggest national teachers strike for 25 years in a row over pensions.

Not only has it caused huge disruption for hard working families or single parents already struggling to cope in the economic downturn. It has forced parents to pay for emergency childcare or take a day off work to look after their sons and daughters.

I have seen some comments around today on various forums, that we simply think that teachers are a free childminding service... I simply see a teachers as individuals who have chosen that career to provide an eduction for our children which are tomorrows future. The children are our main priority surely?? Not a selfish financial gain?! Industrial strikes over proposed pension reforms are unjustified and have jeopardised education and caused disruption for many families.

Myself and my partner work in the private sector, long hours, no bonuses, no pension scheme, average pay and the standard 20 days holiday per year. We as a hard working family are just very thankful to have a job during these struggling times.

What are your views? Do you think the strikes have been fair?
